My idea was to make an exuberant depiction of a still life, so it would become less "still". That's why for example many flowers are deliberately really out of proportion, pieces of flowers are fall down, a major stem is broken... At the same time the painting should also provide an "in your face" feeling. Instead of being a background, the flowers make a big step forward and welcome you. To give the meaning of this painting extra strength, I used an extra large linen, 55 - 43 inch/140 - 110 cm. By the way, this work is inspired by a very small watercolor from the 19 century made by Dutch Master (and old family) Georgius van Os. Part of the serie "Flowers"
