Amsterdam is world-famous for its museums. The most renowned such as the Rijksmuseum and Van Gogh Museum are conveniently located next to each other in the colorful and unique Museum Quarter. The Museum Square itself provides large, open green spaces for passive recreation and is also used for large public events such as festivals, concerts etc. So far so good. Actually, I live in that area. I often walk with my little beagle on that wonderful big lawn. And at least once a year I see a fascinating and returning phenomenon. The lawn in the middle is being renewed. Due to the festivals etc. which destroys the grass. So they take of the old and yellow grass and make a new lawn. Not from the grass seeds, that takes too long. Amsterdam uses grass rolls which they roll out. And it was this yearly grass ritual that inspired me to create this colorful “Grass Rolls Exposition”. An unusual outdoor exposition located in the middle of famous Dutch museums with their changing indoor expositions.
